Dr. V. Notara holds a PhD in Health Promotion and Prevention of Cardiovascular Diseases from the Harokopio University of Athens and an MSc in Health Promotion from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of London.
She has many years of teaching experience at the undergraduate level and in particular during the years 1994-2000 she was a Laboratory Assistant at the Department of Health Visitors – Technological Educational Institiute (TEI) of Athens, 2008-2018 she served as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Public Health and Community Health – TEI of Athens, 2018-2022 she served as an Assistant Professor and since 2022 she has been serving as an Associate Professor at the Department of Public and Community Health – University of West Attica.
She teaches in the scientific fields of Health Promotion, Nutrition & Health and Healthy Ageing. At postgraduate level she teaches in the fields of Health Promotion and Health Education, Chronic Disease Prevention and Third Age.
Her research interests are focused on third age, chronic disease prevention, health promotion and public health. Her extensive research work, with publications in peer-reviewed international and national journals (>100 publications) and presentations at international and national conferences (>140 oral and poster presentations), covers the field of Health Promotion and focuses on knowledge, perceptions and lifestyle issues related to chronic disease prevention.
She coordinates national projects in collaboration with Harokopio University and Medical School, University of Crete and is a member of a research team in international research program.
She participates, as a supervisor and as a member of a three-member Advisory Committee, to doctoral candidates and postgraduate students.
She is Chair of the Working Group on Epidemiology and Prevention of Atherosclerosis in the Hellenic Atherosclerosis Society (2021-)
