Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Postgraduate Studies Programme “Health Promotion in the Third Age”, each postgraduate student will be able to design and develop policies, which will contribute in:

  • Supporting older people to remain independent and active
  • Improve the quality of life of the elderly
  • Utilizing the accumulated experience and knowledge of the elderly to maintain and strengthen their participation in the fabric of society
  • Development of policies to formulate action plans that promote healthy and active aging
  • Understand and promote in the population the concept of active aging and preparation for third age
  • Recognizing and supporting the important role people play as they grow older in caring for others
  • Upgrading of the health system with an emphasis on the elderly and the cooperation of the private sector with the public sector in this direction
  • Evaluating the advanced and complex concepts, approaches and methods from the science of education and promotion, with particular reference to interdisciplinary problems and approaches found in the scientific literature
  • Applying appropriate design for quantitative and qualitative empirical research, selecting appropriate research methods for data collection and analysis, demonstrating the ability to identify needs for new theoretical, methodological and practical approaches
  • Promoting trainee collaboration in relation to practitioners, scientists, policy makers and the general public and the implementation of project-based oral and written assignments in an interdisciplinary team
  • Promoting the initiation of constructive interdisciplinary and interdisciplinary discussions and collaborations within and between various social and scientific organizations and professions
  • Critically analyzing how different health, wellness and healthcare knowledge, communications and practices are used to shape and organize the lives of older people and their carers
  • Creating scientists with the required skills for successful careers in the private, public and academic sectors, in the prevention and promotion of Public Health

 

In addition, the postgraduate student will be able to participate in doctoral level postgraduate studies.
