Learning Outcomes
The course deals with the health sector and new information and communication technologies (ICT). The issues of interoperability, use of standards, etc. are analyzed, while extensive reference is made both to the use of ICT to improve health services and patient care, as well as methods of saving resources and increasing productivity through ICT. A description of the developments occurring in the field of ICT and which affect the health sector is attempted, such as telemedicine applications, hospital computerization, automatic opinion and opinion support systems, image archiving and radiology department automation information systems, etc. At the same time, the most important problems resisting the expansion, the wider and more comprehensive diffusion of the offered solutions are identified (e.g. interoperability issues, use of standards, protocols, coding issues, etc.). Extensive reference is also made to the latest technological developments (e.g. big data, artificial intelligence, mobile health, etc.).
