Selection process
The required supporting documents must be submitted within the deadlines specified in the respective Invitation for Expression of Interest.
Initially, the Programme secretariat receives the applications and the necessary supporting documents submitted by the prospective postgraduate students, which are provided for in the Invitation for Expression of Interest each time, and draws up a list of prospective postgraduate students, which it forwards to the CEC. The supporting documents submitted by the candidates must be submitted by the deadline, as provided for in the Invitation for Expression of Interest. Late applications are not accepted.
The candidate evaluation process includes two stages, as follows:
In the first one, Programme’s secretariat evaluates the applications based on the completeness and validity of the required supporting documents submitted, which is a necessary condition for qualification to the next stage.
During the second stage of the process, the candidates are invited to an interview before the CEC. The aim is to establish which candidates are able to effectively meet the requirements of the Programme, taking into account their motivation and interest, but also their overall composition and scientific competence in relation to the subject of the Programme.
Upon completion of the evaluation procedures, the CEC compiles a complete list of all candidates, ranks the candidates, makes the final selection and draws up the provisional list of successful candidates, which is validated by the Department’s Assembly. The list is posted in accordance with the provisions on personal data protection, on the Programme’s website and in the announcements of the Department.
An objection against the provisional list of successful candidates can be made within five (5) working days from the date of announcement of the lists on the Programme’s website. The objection must be specific and is finally judged by a three-member committee of faculty members of the Department who have undertaken postgraduate teaching classes, which is defined by a decision of the Department’s Assembly (Committee of Objections).
After the deadline for objections and the final decision of the Committee of Objections (if any), the final list of successful candidates is posted, according to the procedure for posting the temporary list.
Successful candidates are invited to respond in writing, in paper or electronically (email), within a predefined deadline from the posting of the final table (as defined in the Programme Invitation for Expression of Interest) to accept their membership in the Programme and its operating conditions, such as these described in the Programme Regulation.
If there are refusals, the Programme Secretariat informs the next candidates in the evaluation order from the final list of successful candidates.
Registration in the Programme
Successful applicants must register at the Programme Secretariat by the deadlines set by the competent bodies in the Invitation for Expression of Interest. For reasons of extreme necessity, it is possible to register a postgraduate student after the expiry of the deadline by decision of the Programme Assembly, following a reasoned request of the interested party. Admitted postgraduate students can be informed about topics and issues that concern them from the website of the Programme, the Department and/or from the Programme secretariat.
